The Election review in Iran has major theoretical and empirical weaknesses, while every year we see various and diverse elections in Iran. The lack of compatibility of research findings on the relationship between education and electoral participation over the past four decades in Iran shows that there is no consensus on this issue, because there was no critical analysis in this regard. This article, using a critical perspective and analysis in the field of action, seeks to provide a sociological explanation of electoral participation based on education, education, and education in general.Since education and literacy and in general education within the framework and the field of action are considered as cultural, modernization theories and political culture are used to explain it. The research method is a cross-National comparative method. The statistical population includes all provinces of the country and 429 cities in 1395 and the participation rate in the 12th presidential election.
The research showed that there is a fundamental difference between electoral participation and political participation, and contrary to the modernization theory between education, education and electoral participation (not political participation), there is no linear relationship. With increasing education to the level of diplomas, election participation is increasing and with the increase in university education, the level of electoral participation decreases. Also, at the theoretical level, research has shown that political culture can explain the impact of education and literacy on electoral participation.
