The present study is a qualitative study of the body identity of adolescent girls under the influence of their body image, experiences and physical events in Boroujerd. Data from this study were collected through semi-structured interviews and the grounded theory method was used to analyze the data. With the help of theoretical and purposeful sampling method, 30 high school girls were interviewed and finally the collected data were coded and analyzed in the form of 9 core categories and one core category. The results indicate that gender stereotypes, comparing one's body with others as causal conditions, Maturity as a context and the Internet as the medium of ideal body (slimming) act as interfering conditions. Also, teenage girls adopt certain strategies in the face of a negative image of their body. These strategies can be categorized in the form of body surveillance (monitoring) and tackling irregular eating patterns. According to the present study, physical anxiety, embarrassment and sexual alienation are the effects and consequences of negative body image of adolescent girls.
