In the last decade, especial attention is given to medical issues in medical sociology. One of the important issues is beauty as it is pursued by plastic surgery. Since in modern society appearance has become very important and some beauty standards are given extraordinary importance (whether right or wrong), a lot of people undergo many problems and difficulties to achieve beauty by plastic surgery. The present study provides a sociological analysis of tendency towards beauty as it is followed by plastic surgery. Research method is survey and measurement tool is questionnaire. Research population includes all 16- 64 year-old women and girls of Tabriz, whose number according to the national census of 1385 is 457845. Using Cochran formula, 385 individuals were randomly selected by stratified random sampling. Data was analyzed by SPSS. The results of the study show that there are meaningful relationships between variables such as age, cultural capital, religious beliefs and the tendency toward beauty. Overall, our independent variables, namely, social capital, cultural capital and religious beliefs were able to explain 22% of the variance of dependable variable.
