Sociological explanation of the effect of power structure in the family on social cynicism with emphasis on the moderating role of social class (case study of citizens over 18 years old in Isfahan City)

Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is the theoretical and empirical explanation of the analytical model in which the influence of the power structure in the family as an independent variable on social cynicism as a dependent variable has been investigated by considering social class as a moderating variable. The theoretical framework of this research is written using the theories of Dahrendorf, Turner, Collins, Kemper and resource theory. The statistical population in this research was citizens over 18 years of age in Isfahan city, and the sample size was estimated to be 410 people using SPSS Sample Power software. The survey research method and the combined sampling method (two-stage cluster-available) and the questionnaire measurement tool have been valid and reliable. Social cynicism in 4 dimensions included individual, interpersonal, group and institutional dimensions and the power structure in the family in three dimensions included power, decision-making and the way of exercising power and social class in objective dimension have been measured. The validity used in this study was content and construct validity. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to measure the reliability of the questionnaire, and its value was 0.86 for social cynicism and 0.84 for power structure in the family. The results of this research showed that the power structure in the family in the studied society has a significant effect on social cynicism, and social class has a significant moderating role in the relationship between power structure in the family and social cynicism.
