Abstract

The upward trend of instability of the family institution is one of the important issues of the society and needs to be investigated. The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between the variables of friendship experience, emotional belonging, desire to seek diversity, mistrust and attitude towards divorce among married women.

This research was a cross-sectional survey and had a descriptive-correlational nature. The statistical population of the research includes married women aged 20-39 living in Tehran in three, thirteen and sixteen districts. The sample size was estimated to be 383 persons using Cochran's formula. The sampling method was a combination of multi-stage and simple random classification methods.

The results showed that the variables of friendship experience, low emotional belonging, tendency to seek diversity, mistrust and employment status respectively had the greatest impact on the positive attitude towards divorce. The emotional belonging variable had a negative effect and the variables of the tendency to diversity, mistrust and employment status had a direct effect on the positive attitude towards divorce. But the friendship experience, in addition to the direct effect on the positive attitude towards divorce, indirectly and through the effects on the variables of emotional belonging, mistrust and the desire to diversify, was very effective in the positive attitude towards divorce.

This finding provides some clues for cultural-educational institutions in relation to informing teenagers and young people - and modifying interaction patterns with the opposite sex - and on the other hand, providing counseling services for couples who, due to previous inappropriate records, live to emphasize that their joint is at risk.
